Ms. Abigail Aronson

Consul and Chief of Consular Services at the US Embassy in Tirana

Ms. Abigail Aronson joined the United States Foreign Service in 1997, and has served in a variety of assignments in Washington and abroad.

Since August 2007, she has served as Consul and Chief of Consular Services at the US Embassy in Tirana, Albania.

From 2004 to 2006, she served in the Bureau of Consular Affairs; her portfolios included managing emergency and temporary consular assistance to posts worldwide, and serving as Bureau liaison for consular operations in the South Asia region.

From 2003 to 2004, she served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs, working in the bureau which represents the Department of State to the U.S. Congress.

In her overseas assignments, Ms. Aronson served from 2000 to 2003 as Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Melbourne, Australia, with rotational responsibilities as Political and Economic Officer and Chief of Visa Services.

From 1998 to 2000, she served as Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador, El Salvador, with a portfolio in consular affairs.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Ms. Aronson held positions in the Executive and Legislative branches of the U.S. federal government.
